Rabbit for Sale

You can easily find breeders who offer a pet Rabbit for sale. There are many web sites and ads in local papers that offer captive bred rabbits of various breeds. When you decide to obtain a pet rabbit, keep in mind that wild caught rabbits don’t thrive in captivity and don’t make good pets. If you find orphaned and sickly rabbit babies, don’t try to feed or cure them, but take them to the vet or a Wildlife Rehabilitator. You can take healthy bunnies home from the wild only when their eyes are closed and you are sure that they are orphans and unable to survive without the mother. Normally, Rabbits are weaned at the age of 3 weeks and leave the mother at 6-7 weeks of age.

Almost any Rabbit for sale can make a good pet provided with proper care. Unlike dogs and cats, Rabbits are very quiet and don’t need much space. Rabbits were domesticated long ago. Their reproductive rate is very high, which makes them easy to raise for various purposes. Today, Rabbits are kept not only for their coat and meat, but also as family companions. Breeders have created a number of pet Rabbit varieties that differ in size, body structure, and coat color. Rabbits vary in size from 2 to 20 pounds; there are short-coated and long-coated varieties.

Prior to choosing a Rabbit for sale, make sure you can provide proper living conditions for the animal. Though relatively easy to maintain, rabbits need a shelter and quality food. In the wild, Rabbits are solitary and territorial. Domestic Rabbits should be kept in individual cages with soft bedding where they have an opportunity to hide and have a rest.

In their natural habitats, Rabbits feed on a variety of grasses, leaves, twigs, fruits, and vegetables. Captive Rabbits should be fed grass or legume hay and various green foods. Pet Rabbits should not be fed pellets designed for raising Rabbits for commercial purposes. They are too rich in protein for a pet that is going to live a long life. When you buy a pet Rabbit for sale, ask the breeder about the purpose of the litter in order not to buy an animal produced for meat or fur.
